TTIP: facts & fiction

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) might become one of the most influential trade agreements. The negotiation that are currently ongoing between the United States and the European Union triggered vivid reactions and polarized the public opinion on both sides of the Atlantic.

Many people criticize the intransparency of the negotiations and warn of dangers for democracy, labor rights, food standards and the environment should TTIP be concluded and ratified. Supporters of TTIP in turn point at potential positive effects on growth and investments as well as the need to define and influence trade standards in an increasingly competitive world economy.

Against the background of this controversy, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in Romania invites to a FES Sustainable Romania Lecture with Pia Eberhardt, to discuss about the impact of TTIP, its risks and opportunities.
