Beyond Panama Papers – How to achieve Justice globally

The recent Panama Paper leaks exposed patters of tax evasion, money laundering and corruption used by privileged individuals and companies around the world. What is seemingly just the tip of an iceberg points at the vast global gap in wealth, income and influence between the rich and the poor. If the richest are unwilling and the poorest are unable to participate in the creation of public goods, our societies are in danger of disintegrating. How is it possible to advance the struggle for global justice, transparency and integrity? How would a system of just laws look like and what are possibilities for establishing it?

To address these and other questions Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the Faculty of European Studies, Babes Bolyai University invites to a debate with Thomas Pogge, Professor of Philosophy and International Affairs at Yale University. The event is part of the FES Sustainable Romania Lecture Series.

23rd May 2016, starting with 16.00, Aula hall of the faculty of European Studies Emanuel de Martonne street, no 1, Cluj Napoca
